THE PRESENTATION OF ARMAVENI MIROGHLU MUHTARIAN’S BOOK “ISTANBUL ARMENIANS FROM CONSTANTINOPLE (1923-1939)”

In September 2016 Armaveni Miroghlu, Candidate of Historical Sciences, previous Master student and applicant of the Institute of history, had presented her book "Armenians from Constantinople (1923-1939)" at the Institute’s conference hall. In November 3 the presentation of the book was also held in Esayan School of Constantinople with the participation of many Armenian intellectuals, spiritual and religious leaders of the city.

 

The director of the Institute of History Ashot Melkonyan and his spouse Lusine Amirjanyan, Deputy Director of the Museum of Yerevan History, arrived from Yerevan to attend the ceremony. Stressing the cognitive significance of Miroghlu’s book the guest speakers urged the author to carry on her study of history of Armenians оf Constantinople. Melkonyan handed over the “Ambassador of the Native Language” Medal awarded by RA Minister of Diaspora Hranush Hakobyan to A. Miroghlu.

Melkonyan also visited several Armenian institutions, including the editorial offices of “Marmara”, “Zhamanak” and “Agos” newspapers, the Patriarchate, “Esayan” and “Hrant Dink” colleges, churches, patriotic unions, sightseeing places of the city, etc.
