On 22–26 April 2026, the capital of Georgia hosted an international scientific conference dedicated to the 150th anniversary of the birth of Ivane Javakhishvili, the founder of Tbilisi State University and the Georgian school of historiography.A delegation from Armenia participated in the conference.

Academician Ashot Melkonyan, Chief Researcher at the NAS RA Institute of History, presented a paper entitled “The Armenological Legacy of Ivane Javakhishvili”, while Junior Researcher Harutyun Khudanyan delivered a report on “The Portrayal of David the Builder’s Successor Georgian Monarchs in 12th–13th Century Armenian Chronicles”. The conference also featured the presentation of the Armenian translation of Ivane Javakhishvili’s work The Borders of Georgia (translated by Jenny Tamaryan). The event was of significant importance for the development of regional historiographical cooperation and the deepening of professional dialogue between the Armenian and Georgian scientific communities.
