International Conference Dedicated to the 100th Anniversary of the End of the First World War held in Moscow

On November 20-21, 2018, the international conference on "The End of the First World War and the Formation of the New World Order: From Versailles to Munich» was held in Moscow.

The conference was organized on the initiative of the Institute of General History of the Russian Academy of Sciences and Lomonosov Moscow State University.

The conference was attended by historians from Russia, Belarus, Israel, Great Britain, Canada, Ukraine, Czech Republic, Moldova, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Germany and France. L. Slutsky, the chairman of the State Duma Committee of the Russian Federation welcomed the participants of the conference.

   

Prof. Ashot Melkonyan, the director of the Institute of History, NAS of RA delivered a presentation at the first plenary session on "Armenia during the Formation of the New World ". During his speech he presented the difficult, but heroic path of the Armenian people, who had been subjected to genocide during the First World War, but resulted in the restoration of state independence in the end of May of 1918.

After his speech A. Melkonyan chaired one of the conference sessions in the afternoon.

On November 20, the meeting of the institute directors of CIS countries took place under the presidency of academic director Alexander Chubaryan at the Institute of General History of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
