On October 1-2, 2019 an international conference on the «80th Anniversary of the Outbreak of World War II» took place at Russian Academy of Sciences. The historians from the 23 different countries of the world were presented during the conference.

  

Welcoming speeches were made by Sergey Naryshkin - the President of the Russian Historical Society, Mikhayil Lipkin -the director of the Institute of World History of the Russian Federation, the message of the Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov was read. At the Plenary Session of the conference academician A. Chubaryan delivered a presentation on the "80th Anniversary of the Outbreak of World War II: Debate and Reality".

 

During the conference the Institute of History NAS of RA was presented by the academician Ashot Melkonyan – the director of the Institute of History, NAS of RA.  In the same evening Prof. A. Melkonyan was presented at the official ceremony of awarding Academician A. Chubaryan with the Austrian Gold Medal at the Austrian Embassy in Russia.

On October 2, 2019, Prof. A.  Melkonyan was a chair at the first session and then presented the speech on the "Armenian Forces in the First Years of the World War II."
