This year marks the 800th anniversary of the foundation of Khoranashat monastic complex. On this occasion, on May 28, in St. Astvatatsin Church of Khoranashat, the leader of the Diocese of Tavush, His Grace Bishop Bagrat Galstanyan, offered a Holy and Immortal Liturgy. For this purpose, the “Gospel of Khoranashat” dated 1224, kept in the Mashtots Matenadaran, was brought to the monastic complex. On the same day, in the village of Chinari, and the next day in St. Harutyun Church of Berd a religious ceremony was performed with the “Gospel of Khoranashat”.

On May 29, a scientific conference dedicated to the 800th anniversary of the foundation of Khoranashat was held in the Chamber of Culture in Chinari village at the initiative of the Matenadaran and the NAS RA Institute of History. His Grace Bishop Ter Bagrat Galstanyan, RA Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport Vahram Dumanyan, Director of the Matenadaran Vahan Ter-Ghevondyan, Director of the NAS RA Institute of History Ashot Melkonyan, Gevorg Saghoyan – member of the Khoranashat-800 interdepartmental commission, coordinator of the events, made a speech of welcome.

  

The presentation of the illustrated book “Khoranashat 800” (authors: Candidate of Historical Sciences Artashes Shahnazaryan, Candidate of Philological Sciences Tamara Minasyan, Fr. Aram Mirzoyan, Hrachya Kartashyan, editor: Vahe Torosyan) took place within the framework of the conference. It was also published in English (translators: Irina Odznetsyan, Varduhi Gevorgyan, editor: Nazeni Gharibyan) and Russian (translator: Amalya Shahumyan, editor: Olga Vardazaryan). The illustrate book “Khoranashat 800” was published by the patronage of the family of Anatoli Saghoyan.
