On November 1, 2022, the presentation of the book “Jerusalem and the Armenians before the Ottoman rule (1516)” authored by the foreign member of the NAS RA, Dr. of Sci. Claude-Armen Mutafyan took place in the conference hall of the NAS RA Institute of History.
Congratulating the French-Armenian armenologist on his 80th birthday and on the occasion of being awarded the “Movses Khorenatsi” medal by the President of the Republic of Armenia, Academician A. Melkonyan, Director of the NAS RA Institute of History, presented to Mutafyan’s serious contributions to the development of Armenology, his significant scientific publications, and the organization of high-level international exhibitions.
Academician Secretary of the Department of Armenian Studies and Social Sciences of the NAS RA, Academician of the NAS RA Yuri Suvaryan, Head of the “History of Armenian Colonies and Diaspora” Department of the NAS RA Institute of History, Dr. of Sci. G. Stepanyan and researcher of the same department E. Tajiryan.
The author presented the illustrated book “Jerusalem and the Armenians before the Ottoman rule (1516)” in detail, answering the questions of the audience. He also addressed the circumstances of the reopening of the “Treasures of the Patriarchate of Jerusalem” museum.
