On November 29, international conference “The Centenary of the Formation of the USSR; New Interpretations and Approaches” commenced its work in Moscow, which was organized by the Institute of World History of the Russian Academy of Sciences and the Russian Historical Society.
The participants of the conference, who represented a number of CIS countries, were welcomed by the Chairman of the Board of the Russian Historical Society K. Magilevski, M. Shvidkoi – Special Representative of the Russian President, Scientific Head of the Institute of World History of the Russian Federation, Academician A. Chubaryan, Director of the same Institute M. Lipkin. The reports of the Director of the NAS RA Institute of History A. Melkonyan and Deputy Director K. Khachatryan, were devoted to the questions of the formation of the Transfederation and the USSR, the SSR of Armenia and the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic, as well as the legal status of the latter.
