On the initiative of the Department of History of Armenian Colonies and Diaspora of the NAS RA Institute of History, an anniversary conference was organised on the occasion of the 100th birthday of the source researcher, historian and Cd. Hist. Sci. Suren Kolanjyan.
The aim of the conference was to re-evaluate the historian’s scientific legacy and to honour the shining memory of the scholar. The Director of the NAS RA Institute of History, Academician of the NAS RA, Dr. Hist. Sci., Professor Ashot Melkonyan, delivered the opening speech.
Academician Yuri Suvaryan, Academician-Secretary of the Department of Armenology and Social Sciences of the NAS RA, delivered a welcoming speech.
Afterwards, the corresponding member of the NAS RA, Dr. Sci., Professor Albert Kharatyan, gave a speech in which he presented the historian’s scientific activity and his legacy.
In addition to the staff of the Institute, a representative from Bulgaria also attended the conference.
The two sessions of the conference were chaired by Karen Mkrtchyan and Artsvi Bakhchinyan.
Gevorg Stepanyan, Seda Ohanyan, Ani Fishenkchyan, Knarik Avagyan, Karen Mkrtchyan, Artsvi Bakhchinyan, Eliz Tajiryan, Hovik Avanesov and Knarik Petrosyan from the Institute of History gave speeches.
The presentations were followed by a lively discussion and a Q&A session.
