A hybrid international conference titled “Historical Primary Sources on Armenian Settlements” was held in the conference hall of the NAS RA Institute of History, dedicated to the centenary of Vardges Mikaelyan. In addition to the Institute’s staff, participants included representatives from Egypt (Armine Hakobyan), the Czech Republic (Anna Karapetyan), and Romania (Arsen Arzumanyan).
The opening session of the conference took place on November 22. The event was inaugurated with a speech by Professor Gevorg Stepanyan, Dr. Hist. Sci. and Head of the Department of the History of Armenian Diasporas and Communities at the Institute of History of NAS RA.
Welcoming remarks were delivered by Academician Ashot Melkonyan, Director of the Institute of History of NAS RA, and Professor Mikael Mikaelyan, Doctor of Economic Sciences, from the Chair of Economics and International Economic Relations at Yerevan State University.
The legacy of Vardges Mikaelyan was highlighted by Corresponding Member of NAS RA, Dr. Hist. Sci., Professor Albert Kharatyan.
The two sessions of the conference were chaired by Elizabeth Tajiryan, a researcher at the Institute of History, and Karen Mkrtchyan, Cd. Hist. Sci.
Scholars from the Institute of History who presented reports included Gevorg Stepanyan, Seda Ohanyan, Elizabeth Tajiryan, Ani Fishenkchkyan, Karen Mkrtchyan, Artsvi Bakhchinyan, Knarik Avagyan, Vahe Sargsyan, and Hovik Avanesov.
The conference concluded with a discussion session, including a Q&A segment.
