The Department of the History of the Armenian Question and the Armenian Genocide at the Institute of History of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Armenia invites scholars to participate in the international conference entitled “The National Awakening of the Armenian People as the Catalyst for International Recognition and Condemnation of the Armenian Genocide,” to be held on 22–23 April 2025.
The aim of the conference is to comprehensively study and publicize the process of international recognition and condemnation of the crime committed against the Armenian people, with a particular focus on the national awakening that began in Soviet Armenia and the Diaspora in 1965 on the 50th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide. The conference will also highlight the historical, legal, and political dimensions of this process, as well as the prospects for the restoration of justice.
Thematic Directions:
- Examination and analysis of the initiation, development, and key stages of the process of international recognition and condemnation of the Armenian Genocide.
- The role and contributions of Diaspora communities, independent institutions, and organisations in advancing the international recognition and condemnation of the Armenian Genocide.
- Expressions of the dissident movement in Soviet Armenia and its impact.
- Efforts to safeguard the rights of the Armenians of Nagorno-Karabakh within the USSR.
