International Conference at the Institute of History

On the initiative of the NAS RA Institute of History, an international conference entitled “The Armenian People in the Second World and the Great Patriotic Wars: Uncovered Pages” was held on 6 May 2025. The event was dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Second World War and the Great Patriotic War. The conference aimed to highlight the substantial contribution of the Armenian people to the victories in these wars and to shed light on previously unexplored aspects of the nation’s history, including the involvement of individual participants.

    

The conference was attended by leading scholars from the Institute of History, as well as representatives from various universities and research institutions across the Republic. A delegation from the Institute of General History of the Russian Academy of Sciences also participated, comprising Cd. Hist. Sci. Viktor Ishchenko, Head of the Department of International Scientific Cooperation; Maxim Yakovlev, Scientific Secretary; and Tatyana Melnichenko, Junior Researcher. These participants were honoured with the Institute of History’s Movses Khorenatsi Memorial Medal.

Dr. Hist. Sci. Kliment Harutyunyan, a prominent specialist in the history of the Great Patriotic War and a chief researcher at the Institute of History, was also awarded the Institute’s Memorial Medal on the occasion of his 85th birthday, in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the study of wartime history.
