On February 23, 2018, the conference hall of the NAS RA Presidium hosted an international conference titled “Artsakh in the Crossroads of Struggle for the Armenian Statehood” dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the new phase of the Artsakh movement. The conference was organized by the NAS RA Department of Armenology and Social Sciences and Yerevan State University.
NAS RA President, Academician Radik Martirosyan, Archbishop Nathan Hovhannisyan, Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Artsakh Ashot Ghulyan, RA Minister of Diaspora Hranush Hakobyan, Deputy Foreign Minister Shavarsh Kocharyan, head of the Republican Party of Armenia parliamentary faction Vahram Baghdasaryan, writer, publicist Zori Balayan, NAS RA academicians, members of the NAS RA Presidium, heads of NAS RA scientific organizations, rectors of higher educational institutions, scientists, intellectuals, guests from post-Soviet republics.
Academician Radik Martirosyan, President of the National Academy of Sciences, opened the conference.
The participants of the conference for a minute honored the memory of those who stood in the roots of the Artsakh Movement.
Ashot Ghulyan-the President of the National Assembly of the Republic of Artsakh, presented the words of welcome of Bako Sahakyan-the President of the Republic of Artsakh.
The conference participants were welcomed also by Yuri Suvaryan-academician-secretary of the NAS RA Department of Armenology and Social Sciences, Aram Simonyan-YSU Rector, NAS RA Corresponding Member, Academician Ashot Melkonyan-the Director of the NAS RA Institute of History. Modest Kolerov, editor in chief of the news portal Regnum and Stanislav Tarasov, a leading expert of the same agency participated in the plenary session and delivered their reports.
