PRESENTATION OF 14 VOLUMES OF SERIES “WESTERN ARMENIA AND CILICIA COMMEMORATIVE BOOK SERIES” DEDICATED TO THE 100TH ANNIVERSARY OF ARMENIAN GENOCIDE WAS HELD

At the initiative of the Catholicosate of the Great House of Cilicia, with the support of the RA Ministry of Diaspora, the presentation of 14 volumes of the series “Western Armenia and Cilicia Commemorative Book Series” dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide took place at the Institute of History of the National Academy of Sciences of Armenia.

The presentation was attended by RA Minister of Diaspora Hranush Hakobyan, Primate of the Catholicosate of the Great House of Cilicia Khachik Dedeyan, Director of the RA National Academy of Sciences Institute Ashot Melkonyan, Editor of the series Jirayr Danielyan, scholars, intellectuals and guests.

 

Congratulating on the publication of the series, Melkonyan noted that this presentation was a unique and exceptional event in its kind. “Today we have a solid scientific work on our table. Each volume includes geography, history, folklore, ethnography, lifestyle of one or another canton of Cilicia and Western Armenia in its entirety,” Melkonyan said.

RA Minister of Diaspora Hranush Hakobyan directed a congratulatory message to the patrons of the series, first of all Catholicos of the Great House of Cilicia Aram I, Khachik Dedeyan and Zhirayr Danielyan.

To date, 14 volumes have been published: “Armenian History of Adana”, “History of Taron”, “History of Ayntab Armenians, vol. A”, “History of Ayntab Armenians, vol. B”, “General History of Hachn”, “Heroic Urfa and Its Armenian Sons”, “Historiography of Kyurin”, “Kessab. Topography, Settlements, Population, History, Economy”, “Marash or Germanik and heroic Zeytun”, “History of Armenian Caesaria, vol. A”, “History of Armenian Caesaria. Topographic, Historical and Ethnographical Studies, vol. B”, “History of Armenian Arabkir, vol. A”, “History of Armenian Arabkir”, “Memory Book of Roumtikin”. 50 samples of series will be sent to Armenia, to be given to the Matenadaran, academic centers, historians, philologists, and scholars.
