On June 15-18, the international round table-discussion entitled “Russia-Georgia: The Treaty of Georgievsk -240” was held in Stavropol. Jenny Tamaryan from the NAS RAInstitute of History presented a report (‘The Treaty of Georgievsk in modern Georgian Historiography”).

On June 20, a republican conference entitled “Historical and Cultural Image of Aragatsotn” was held in the village of Verin Sasnashen. From the NAS RA Institute of History, Cd. sci. Karen Tokhatyan, Cd. sci. Shavarsh Azatyan, Cd. sci. Mariam Hovsepyan, applicant Armen Asatryan.

The conference will take place in the city of Stepanavan, departure from Yerevan will be carried out by the organizers on July 14 at 08:30. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. by July 5 or present to the scientific secretary of the Institute, Hakob Muradyan, or to Vahe Sargsyan, the Chair of the Council of Young Researchers.

The thesis should be composed of 200-250 words. In the case of Armenian, the font is Sylfaen, in the case of other languages – Times New Roman. Up to 15 minutes will be given for the report. Those who do not have a scientific degree must submit a letter of recommendation from the scientific supervisor or from the relevant professional department of the scientific (educational) institution.

Works that do not meet the technical standards will not be accepted.

The materials of the conference will be published in a separate collection.

THE NAS RA INSTITUTE OF HISTORY

On June 13-14, academician Ashot Melkonyan presented the cooperation of the NAS RA Institute of History with the scientific and educational institutions of the Russian Federation within the framework of the Armenian-Russian scientific and educational forum held in Yerevan. In particular, joint work with the World History Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences and the North Caucasian Federal University (NCFU) of the Russian Federation was highlighted.

Dissertation for the degree of Doctor of History on the specialization of “History of Armenia” 07.00.01.

The Defense of the Disseration will be held on July 17, 2023, at 13⁰⁰ at the Session of the Specialized Council 004 on Armenian History of SQC RA by the Institue of History of the National Academy of Sciences of RA (0019, Yerevan, Marshal Baghramyan ave., 24/4).

On May 7, the international conference “Emigration from 1922 to Today” was held in Thessaloniki, Greece, at the initiative of the “Pan-Greek Society of Pontos”.

On April 30 an international conference-round table discussion entitled ‘“The White Pages” of the Everyday Life of Soviet Armenia” was held in the conference hall of “Writers House” in Tsaghkadzor. The conference was organized with the funding of the Science Committee of the MESCS, within the framework of the scientific topic under the code 21T-6A274 implemented at the Institute of History (supervisor: Dr. Sci., Professor Karen Khachatryan).

The presentation of the regular 13th volume (“Disaster”) of the renowned public figure, freedom fighter glorified in all Artsakh wars, reserve lieutenant colonel MartikBaghdasaryan was held at the NAS RA Institute of History.

In his opening speech, Director of the Institute of History, Academician A. Melkonyanhighlighted the significance of M. Baghdasaryan’s current and previous books in terms of conveying the patriotic lessons and charges of history to future generations. He wished the author new creative success.

Aghabek Khachatryan – the commander of “Kajari (Courageous)” detachment, Albert Kharatyan – correspondent member of the NAS RA, Armen Karapetyan – senior researcher of the NAS RA Institute of History, Colonel Aramayis Davtyan of the RA Armed Forces, platoon commander Sargis Sargsyan, Tigran Marukhyan – parent of the fallen freedom fighter and others gave speeches on the preparatory process of the book “Disaster” and the patriotic educational functions.

At the end of the event kanun ensemble “Zvartnots” of the Armenian State Pedagogical University performed some piece of national music.

On March 2, the conference entitled “The Armenian socio-political thought in the late 19th century and in the first half of the 20th century: History and Modernity” was held at the Armenian State Pedagogical University after Kh. Abovyan. It was organized with the support of the Armenian Educational and Cultural Association of Armenia. Dr. of Phil. Sci. David Gasparyan, Cd. of Hist. Sci. Armen Karapetyan and Cd. of Phil. Sci. Mariam Hovsepyan.

“Urartu: Forgotten Kingdom” film was screened at the NAS RA Institute of History in whose creation Director of the Institute Ashot Melkonyan and employees Hayk Hakobyan, Vahe Sargsyan participated.

Dissertation for the degree of candidate of sciences in History, with specialization of “History of Armenia” 07.00.01

The defense of the dissertation will be held on  April 4, 2023, at 14⁰⁰ at the session of the specialized council 004 on Armenian History of SCC of RA by the Institute of History of the National Academy of Sciences of RA (0019 Yerevan, M. Baghramyan ave., 24/4).

On November 3, 2023, the NAS RA Institute of History is organizing an international online conference entitled “Historical Sources about Armenian Colonies”, dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the birth of sourceologist, historian, Cd. of Hist. Sci. Suren Kolanjyan.

By August 31 of this year, participants should submit the theses of the report to the “History of Armenian Colonies and Diaspora” Department within the limit of 1 page, including the topic of the report, the name and surname of the participant, as well as the institution that the reporter represents (independent researchers can also participate). Authors will be notified of their topic selection within 10 days.

The topics that will receive a positive opinion from the organizing committee will be presented at the conference.

“History” Scopus e-magazine of the Russian Federation has published the article “Problematic Issues in Armenian History School Textbooks” by Academician Ashot Melkonyan, in which the blatant distortions of Armenian and Russian history in Azerbaijani school textbooks are also presented.

On December 19, the NAS RA Institute of History hosted the Director of the Institute of History and International Relations of the Southern Federal University (SFU) of the Russian Federation, Professor Maria Ponamaryova and Associate Professor of the Department of History and International Relations of Foreign Countries Oksana Karnaukhova. A cooperation agreement was signed between the NAS RA Institute of History and the SFU.

On December 13, 2022, the international conference entitled “The 100th anniversary of the formation of the USSR; 1922-2022” was held in the meeting hall of the NAS RA Presidency.

The collection includes the records and reports of the international conference dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the proclamation of the Republic of Artsakh and the (third) Republic of Armenia, held in Stepanakert and Yerevan in September 2021 (volume: 391 pages). They are dedicated to the issues of the history of Artsakh statehood, the administrative and political situation of the Republic of Artsakh, defense-security issues, the international-legal possibilities of the settlement of the Artsakh issue, the issues of fighting against Azerbaijani distortions of the history of Artsakh.

The publication of the collection was guaranteed by the Scientific Councils of the NAS RA Institute of History and the Artsakh State University. The editors are: Cd. of Sci. in History, Associate Professor Melanya Balayan and Cd. of Sci. in History, Associate Professor Lilit Hovhannisyan. The publication of the work was carried out by the NAS RA Institute of History.
