INTERNATIONAL CONFERNCE DEDICATED TO THE 175 ANNIVERSARY OF "BAZMAVEP" ARMENOLOGICAL, PHILOLOGICAL, LITERARY MAGAZINE

On October 19, 2018 the international conference dedicated to the 175th anniversary of "Basmavep", Armenological, philological and literary magazine started at the hall of the Armenian National Academy of Sciences with the support of the National Academy of Sciences of RA, RA Ministry of Diaspora, and Mkhitarian Congregation. The participants of conference were welcomed by Mkhitar Hayrapetyan, RA acting Minister of Diaspora.

INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE “Beyond ISIS: Minorities and Religious diversity in Iraq and the future of Ezidi, Christians, Shabak, Yarsan, Mandeans and other religious minorities”

On the 12-13th October 2018, a conference, bearing the title INTERNATIONAL “Beyond ISIS: Minorities and Religious diversity in Iraq and the future of Ezidi, Christians, Shabak, Yarsan, Mandeans and other religious minorities” was organized by the American University of Kurdistan in collaboration with the Group of the Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats in the European Parliament. The conference consisted of five panels namely; 1- Vanishing Iraqis: Jews, Karaits and Mandeans. 2- Christian Minorities in Iraq. 3- Ezidi after the Ferman. 4- Mainstreaming and othering: Shabak, Yarsan and Bahai. 5- Lost and new religious groups in Iraq.

THE REGULAR SESSION OF SCIENTIFIC COUNCIL WAS HELD

On September 25, 2018, the expanded meeting of the Scientific Council of the Institute of History, NAS of RA took place with 5 issues on the agenda.

The first and the most important issue on the agenda referred to the awards ceremony. Hamo Sukiasyan, Ph.D and Vahe Torosyan, Ph.D, the researchers of the Institute of History, NAS of RA, and Gor Margaryan, Ph.D, the Scientific Secretary of the Institute of Oriental Studies, NAS of RA were honored with  awards after well known scholar Vladimir Barkhudaryan.

A CONFERENCE WILL BE HELD IN THE INSTITUTE OF HISTORY OF NAS RA

An international conference titled "Baku 1918: The Continuation of the Armenian Genocide" will be held on September 14-17, 2018 dedicated to the 100th commemoration of the massacres of the Armenians in Baku. Opening of the conference will take place on September 14 at 13:00 at the conference hall of the Institute of History, National Academy of Sciences of Armenia.

A group of researchers of the Institute of History, NAS of RA received state medals from Mr. Bako Sahakyan, the President of the Republic of Artsakh

On August 26-28, 2018, the Public Council under the Ministry of Defense of RA headed by Mr. Gegham Harutyunyan organized a regular visit to the military units of the Artsakh Republic Defense Army.

On August 27, the members of the teaching staff presented lectures on the history of the First Armenian Republic in different military units of Artsakh.

On the same day at 17:00 pm, Mr. Bako Sahakyan, President of the Republic of Artsakh and General Levon Mnatsakanyan, commander of the Defense Army of the Republic of Artsakh, welcomed the lecturers and members of the Public Council. The meeting started with a surprise but very pleasant ceremony. 15 members of the teaching staff of the "History and Cultural Page" program, most of whom were researchers of the Institute of History of the Armenian National Academy of Sciences were awarded with state medals for the contribution to the military-patriotic upbringing of the servicemen of the Defense Army.

DELEGATION OF THE INSTITUTE OF HISTORY PARTICIPATED IN RECURRENT SUMMER SCHOOL OF YOUNG HISTORIANS OF CIS COUNTRIES IN KYRGYZSTAN

The regular 10th jubilee summer school of young CIS historians in the Kyrgyz Republic titled "The Excellence of Civil Fight in History" took place on July 15-21, 2018. It was organized by the Institute of History and Cultural Heritage of the Kyrgyz National Academy of Sciences, CIS Interstate Fund for Humanitarian Cooperation and International Association of History Institutions of CIS Countries.

More than 60 young historians and experienced professors from Russia, Belarus, Ukraine, Moldova, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan took part in the works of the school.

The delegation of the Institute of History of NAS RA was headed by Professor Karen Khachatryan, Deputy Director of the Institute. Researchers of the institute Hamo Sukiasyan, Ph.D, Nineta Adamyan, Anahit Shagoyan, Varditer Grigoryan participated as listeners.

 

16 speakers from participating countries delivered interesting lectures during the Summer School, including Professor K. Khachatryan, whose lecture was devoted to the civil fights during the final phase of the establishment of the Soviet power in Armenia in the first half of 1921.

 

VISIT TO RA NAS INSTITUTE OF HISTORY

On  17th July 2018,  the director of  the Institute  of History, academician Ashot Melkonyan received in his office Dr. Jawad El-Baidhani, the dicrector of  the  Institute of  Kurdish  Studies in Iraq, who was visiting Armenia and the institute for the second time.  This meeting was attended also by Dr.Seta Ohanian of the Institute of History and Mr. Ara Ashjian, the wellknown Iraqi historian.

6TH INOGS GLOBAL CONFERENCE ON GENOCIDE

July 4-7, 2018 in the city of Marseille, France the 6th INoGS Global Conference was organized by the Medical Faculty of Aix-Marseille University. The conference was entitled “Genocide and Mass Violence: Diagnosis, Treatment and Recovery”. Almost 150 genocide scholars – participants from five continents and more than 30 different countries presented their papers on topic.

EVENTS DEDICATED TO THE 100TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE FIRST REPUBLIC OF ARMENIA GO ON

On July 6th, 2018 the lecture was organized by the Navasartian Center in London, UK which was dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the First Republic of Armenia. The keynote speaker of the event was Prof. Ashot Melkonyan, Director of the Institute of History, Armenian National Academy of Sciences. The event was attended by the Armenian community members of London, Armenian intellectuals, employees of the Armenian Embassy in UK, also.
 

INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE DEDICATED TO LEVON KHACHIKIAN'S 100TH BIRTH ANNIVERSARY

The conference covered more than 70 reports on various directions of Armenian studies. The authors of the reports are scientists, invited from Italy France, Russia, U.S., Switzerland, Greece, Ukraine. “Matenadaran has been considered to be a unique structure from the day of its foundation, as it is equally a manuscript repository, library, scientific research institute and museum. The fact that we have this remarkable center, which perfectly combines medieval traditions and national sources, is first of all the achievement of Levon Khachikyan,” Director of Matenadaran Vahan Ter-Ghevondyan noted.
