On the joint initiative of the ARF Armenian Committee of Greece, the periodical “Armenica”, the Pontic Union and the Panhellenic Union of Assyrians, the congress “Turkey’s consistent policy of conquest towards the Balkans, the Middle East, Mesopotamia and Armenia” took place on November 19 in the hall of the old Greek parliament building in Athens. The three speakers who took part in the congress presented Turkey’s policy from the 19th century to the present day and went into detail about the genocidal policy towards the neighboring peoples, which most recently found expression in the deportation of the Armenians from Artsakh.

From November 17-19, the city of Meghri in the Syunik region hosted the international conference “Arevik (Meghri). Historical and Cultural Heritage and International Relations”, which was organised by the NAS RA Institute of Archaeology and Ethnography and Yerevan State University with the support of the pan-national organisation “Earth and Culture” and the “All Armenian Foundation Financing Armenological Studies”.

On the initiative of the Department of History of Armenian Colonies and Diaspora of the NAS RA Institute of History, an anniversary conference was organised on the occasion of the 100th birthday of the source researcher, historian and Cd. Hist. Sci. Suren Kolanjyan.

Leading researcher of the NAS RA Institute of History, Dr. Hist. Sci. Gayane Makhmourian received the invitation of the International Historical Biographical Institute (operating in Dubai-New York-Rome-Burgas-Jerusalem-Beijing) to participate in the International Scientific Project titled the “Nobel Laureates: Studying Experience and Professional Achievements for Forming a Successful Personality and Transforming of the World” in Oslo, Stockholm, New York, Rome, Burgas, Jerusalem and Beijing. She participated in the Nobel Laureates’ Reflection Course, submitted a brief summary and was awarded the “International Lecturer / Senior Researcher” (IRS) certificate on July 22, 2023, which is classified in the field “Research and Development” (R&D).

From October 30 to November 5, 2023, Tashkent (Uzbekistan) hosted a regular summer school for young historians of the CIS countries titled “Historical Texts: Culture and Interpretations of Their Creation”. The event was initiated by the Institute of World History of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the Interstate Fund for Humanitarian Cooperation of the CIS countries (IFHC), the International Public Fund, and the International Association of Historians and Archivists of the CIS countries.

From November 1-4, the Russian Academy of Sciences organised an academic forum of young scientists from the countries of Greater Eurasia (Академический форум молодых ученых стран Большой Евразии, «КОНТИНЕНТ НАУКИ»), entitled “THE PLANET OF SCIENCE” in Moscow, which was dedicated to the 300th anniversary of the Russian Academy of Sciences. 

On September 19, 2023, an international conference entitled “ARMENIA AND ARMENIANS AT THE TURNING POINTS OF WORLD HISTORY (HISTORY AND MODERNITY)” was held in the meeting room of the NAS RA Institute of History.

On September 15, in the session hall of the NAS RA Institute of History a meeting was held with historian, professor Sepuh Aslanyan – the Chair of “Armenian Modern History” after R. Hovhannisyan at the University of California in Los Angeles and director of the Armenological center of the Armenian Institute “Promise”.

On July 26, in Ufa – the capital of Bashkortostan, on behalf of the NAS RA Institute of History Academician of the NAS RA A. A. Melkonyan signed a tripartite cooperation agreement with S. M. Yemelin – the Director of the Institute of Ethnological Studies after R. G. Kuzeev of the Ufa Federal Scientific Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences and R. N. Zinurov – the representative of the Russian Academy of Sciences in Bashkortostan.

On June 27-29, 2023 Beirut (Lebanon) hosted the second international conference entitled “The Movements and Transformations of Armenians in the 20th and at the Beginning of the 21st cc.” (the first was held on June 29-30, 2022, in Yerevan), which was initiated by the Center for the Study of the Armenian Diaspora of Haykazian University of Beirut and Armenian State Pedagogical University named after Kh. Abovyan.

On June 27, in the meeting hall of the NAS RA Institute of History a meeting was held with Professor Igor Kryuchkov, Chair of the Department of International Relations of the North Caucasus Federal University. He delivered a report on “Russia’s Foreign Policy on the Armenian Question at the End of the 19th and the Beginning of the 20th CC.”.

On June 15-18, the international round table-discussion entitled “Russia-Georgia: The Treaty of Georgievsk -240” was held in Stavropol. Jenny Tamaryan from the NAS RAInstitute of History presented a report (‘The Treaty of Georgievsk in modern Georgian Historiography”).

On June 20, a republican conference entitled “Historical and Cultural Image of Aragatsotn” was held in the village of Verin Sasnashen. From the NAS RA Institute of History, Cd. sci. Karen Tokhatyan, Cd. sci. Shavarsh Azatyan, Cd. sci. Mariam Hovsepyan, applicant Armen Asatryan.

The conference will take place in the city of Stepanavan, departure from Yerevan will be carried out by the organizers on July 14 at 08:30. Historians up to 35 years old can participate in the conference. Those who want to participate should send the thesis to the e-mail address This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. by July 5 or present to the scientific secretary of the Institute, Hakob Muradyan, or to Vahe Sargsyan, the Chair of the Council of Young Researchers.

The thesis should be composed of 200-250 words. In the case of Armenian, the font is Sylfaen, in the case of other languages – Times New Roman. Up to 15 minutes will be given for the report. Those who do not have a scientific degree must submit a letter of recommendation from the scientific supervisor or from the relevant professional department of the scientific (educational) institution.

Works that do not meet the technical standards will not be accepted.

The materials of the conference will be published in a separate collection.

On June 13-14, academician Ashot Melkonyan presented the cooperation of the NAS RA Institute of History with the scientific and educational institutions of the Russian Federation within the framework of the Armenian-Russian scientific and educational forum held in Yerevan. In particular, joint work with the World History Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences and the North Caucasian Federal University (NCFU) of the Russian Federation was highlighted.
