On 11–12 November, Moscow hosted the international scientific conference “1944 in the History of the Second World War,” organized by the Institute of World History of the Russian Academy of Sciences and the Russian Military-Historical Society. The conference brought together prominent scholars from Russia, CIS countries, Europe, the United States, China, India, and Brazil. Academician Ashot Melkonyan, Director of the NAS RA Institute of, delivered a presentation titled “The Armenian People’s Contribution to the Battles for the Liberation of Eastern Europe in 1944.” Addressing the issue of the ongoing destruction of Soviet military monuments in certain countries, he noted that this situation has long been evident in the territories of Artsakh occupied by Azerbaijan from 2020 to 2023. There, in addition to numerous Armenian historical and cultural monuments, memorials to Armenian soldiers who fought in the Great Patriotic War have been destroyed, including those dedicated to Marshal Hovhannes (Ivan) Baghramyan, Marshal Hamazasp Babajanyan, Marshal Sergey Khudyakov (Khanperyants), and Nelson Stepanyan, a Shushi native and twice Hero of the Soviet Union.

On 29 October 2024, the Institute of History hosted the presentation of the book “Levon Zekiyan 80,” organised by the Department of Armenian Diaspora and Communities.

The NAS RA Institute of History hosted a presentation for the book Levon Gabriel Shaghoyan (1887-1974) by Seda Ohanyan, Cd. hist. sci., a researcher in the Department of the History of Armenian Colonies and the Diaspora.

On 29 October 2024, the presentation of two collections, From Lori Fortress to Stepanavan: Following the Traces of Historical and Cultural Heritage and XLIII Scientific Session of the Council of Young Researchers of the NAS RA Institute of History dedicated to the 100th Anniversary of Simon Krkyasharyan, took place.

On October 24, the Institute of History of NAS RA hosted Colonel, Dr. sc. pol., Professor T. Kocharyan, Acting Head of the National Defence Research University of the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Armenia, and the retired Colonel S. Sujyan, Cd. sc. in Geography, Associate Professor and Head of the Center for Military Arts History Research of the same university. During this meeting, a memorandum of scientific cooperation was signed between the Institute of History of the NAS RA and the National Defence Research University of the RA Ministry of Defence, furthering collaborative efforts between the two institutions.

On the initiative of the Yerevan office of the Hamazkayin Armenian Educational and Cultural Society, and in collaboration with the Chamber of Architects of Armenia, a pan-Armenian conference dedicated to the First Prime Minister of the First Republic of Armenia was held on 15 October, titled “Hovhannes Kajaznuni: Architect.”

From 19 to 21 September, Yerevan State University (YSU) hosted an international three-day conference titled The Armenian Genocide: Introspections of the Past and the Present. The event was dedicated to the 90th anniversary of The Forty Days of Musa Dagh, a seminal novel by Austrian writer Franz Werfel.

 The Institute of History and Ethnology of I. Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University, in collaboration with the NAS RA Institute of History and various European academic institutions, organised an international scientific conference titled “National Liberation and Anti-Soviet Movements in the Caucasus and East-Central Europe during the post-Versailles Period”.

On 22 November 2024, the NAS RA Institute of History will host an international in-person and online scientific conference titled Historical Primary Sources on Armenian Colonies, dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the distinguished source studies scholar, historian, and academician, Dr. Hist. Sci., Professor Vardges Mikayelyan.

 On July 2, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to Armenia, S. P. Kopirkin, visited the Institute of History of the NAS RA. During the meeting, issues related to regional matters and perspectives on bilateral cooperation in the field of historiography were discussed

On June 18-19, an international conference titled “Controversial Issues of the Common History of the CIS Member States: Modern Views and Approaches” was held in Moscow. The two-day event saw participation from scientists representing Russia, Armenia, Belarus, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan.

On May 17-18, an international scientific conference on “Art Issues in Arshak Chopanyan’s ‘Anahit’ Magazine” was held at the NAS RA Institute of Arts.

On May 7, the National Academy of Sciences of RA hosted the presentation of the picture book “Marshal Baghramyan” in its session hall. The event commenced with an opening speech by the Director of the Institute of History, Academician Ashot Melkonyan.

On April 27, a presentation of the first and second volumes of the document collection “The Egyptian Armenian Community in the Evolution of the Armenian Question” was held at the Blgdanian Hall in Cairo. The event was chaired by His Eminence Bishop Ashot Mnatsakanyan, Prelate of the Armenian Diocese of Egypt. The collection is curated based on documents from the Archives of the National Prelacy of Cairo.

On February 16, 2023, the annual Armenological conference titled “21st Annual Graduate Student Colloquium in Armenian Studies” was convened at the University of California (Los Angeles, UCLA). Andranik Yesayan from the NAS RA Institute of History delivered a presentation there (“Demographic changes of Tavush province in the 17th-18th centuries”).
